Anatol MURAD

March 8, 2002

Born Vienna, Austria, December 4, 1904. Died peacefully in the arms of his beloved wife Gillian, at his Ladysmith home, March 8, 2002. He was predeceased in 1982 by his first wife, Orlene, with whom he shared 43 happy years, and is survived by his sons Anthony, of Lebanon Springs, New York, and Timothy of Underhill Vermont and their wives, Dawn and JoAnne. He was loving grandfather to Jonathon, Gregory, Anatol, and Kari Murad, Kari’s husband Joseph Kowalski and uncle Lucie Forsling Hobart; great-grandfather to Lucie’s son James. A professor of Economics at a number of universities in the United States, Puerto Rico, Europe, and lastly at the University of Regina, Anatol had many devoted colleagues and former students. Among his friends in Ladysmith were his physician Dr. Emanuel Fritsch, Michele and Douglas West, Jennifer Lind, and Louis Brossard, who all gave Anatol comfort in his last days. There will be no service at Anatol’s request. Private cremation. A celebration of Anatol’s life will take place in late spring at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, please remember this gentle man with donations to The Canadian Cancer Society, The Canadian Diabetes Association, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Canadian Institute for the Blind or any musical or animal welfare organization.
