GREEN, Arthur E. (Art)

Passed away in Duncan, B.C. on March 28, 2007. Art was born in Port Alice, B.C. on April 25, 1918. He grew up in Quatsino, B.C. with a few years in Victoria. After working on the Hydro graphic Survey, he served with the Royal Canadian Navy (Fisherman's Reserve) during World War II, finishing with the rank of Lieutenant. He married Lorraine Williams of South Wellington in 1942. They moved to Chemainus in 1948 to the property on Fuller Lake, where they spent the rest of their lives (Lorraine passed away in 2005). Art worked in logging for many years, primarily at Copper Canyon, retiring in 1981. For many years he was part of the executives of the Chemainus Credit Union, the Mt. Brenton Golf Club and IWA Local 1-80. He also had a long involvement with youth bowling and the Variety Club Bowling for Kids. He is survived by children Mary-Ann, Frank and Bill; sister Amy Hegglund; brothers George (Daphne) and Bill (Irene); brothers-in-law Bob Williams (Bev) and Ray Battie and sister-in-law Gladys Williams; 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a large extended family of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be on Thursday April 5, 2006 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services 375 Brae Rd., Duncan. In lieu of flowers donations to the variety club or a charity of your choice are welcome.
