Betty Gammie, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 1 at age of 90. Born in Vancouver, she moved with her parents to Chemainus when she was three years old, and continued to live on Vancouver Island until her death.
She taught for many years in the Cowichan and Nanaimo School Districts. She loved teaching and was a superstar in the classroom. She touched the lives of a great many students during her long career.
Betty was an expert seamstress, quilter and a passionate gardener. Her love of travel and adventure took her to many exciting destinations.
She was and always will be loved by her family. Daughters Christine (Les), Linda (Bob and son Greg (Shannon), brother Sonny (Bernie), and sister Joan.
Mom was very proud of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, the ones related to her and those extra ones she "adopted".
A special thank you to the staff at Yucalta Lodge in Campbell River and Dr. Coetzee for taking such good care of her.
