Bonnie Lou de Leeuw (nee Wright)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bonnie Lou de Leeuw, age 70, long time resident of Sunny Saltair. She died peacefully at Nanaimo Regional Hospital on May 7, 2016.
Bonnie was born in Ladysmith on September 17, 1945. She is predeceased by her loving parents, Bill and Betty (Cottell) Wright. She greatly missed her eldest brother Bill (Lorna) and is survived by her brothers Doug (Karen) and Dan (Fran), and her son Don (Lynda). Bonnie married Tom de Leeuw on August 21, 1964. Bonnie and Tom were wonderful companions and soul mates, and for years provided a safe place for family and friends to gather and share love, laughter and tears. Her son Brian (Alessandra) will forever be grateful for her love and generosity. Her grandchildren meant the world to her; whether it was watching her granddaughter Lavinia dance, or her grandson Tommy play hockey or baseball, the pride and joy she felt was obvious.
All who knew Bonnie were impressed by her gift as a gardener. Many benefitted from the beauty of her yard and the many fruits of her love and labour.
All she touched continues to grow.
A celebration of life will be arranged at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations
