passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 13, 2005 in Nanaimo, B.C. Born in Hastings, England July 17, 1918, He was predeceased by two years by his loving wife Myrtle, from whose death he never quite recovered. He was a long time resident since 1946 of Harewood, Myrtle and John moved to Metral Drive in 1975. John was a commercial fisherman all of his life, and was well loved by his family and friends. Everyone will miss his great sense of humour and the twinkle in his eye. John’s great zest for life, learning and justice was a positive influence on everyone, especially the younger generation. Survived by his loving family: daughter Rohana Laing, son Brian Schule, grandchildren: Lucian (Bernice), Marcus, Krisopher, Tamara, Jesse (Dou), David Ashlee (Adam), Candice and Morgan, great-grandchildren: Ardis, Darin, David, Matthew and Samara. A Celebration of John’s Life was held on Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 2:oo pm in the Ecumenicle Centre’s Trinity United Church, 6234 Spartan Rd., Nanaimo, B.C. with Rev. Peggy Jansen officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stoke Fund would be appreciated.
