Christopher Howard Seary

born 1919 – 2010

Chris passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and family on May 18, 2010 at Cowichan District Hospital at the age of 91.

Chris was predeceased by wife Irene, mother of Jean (Smith) of Gosport, England; and wife Teresa, mother of Janet of Redondo Beach, California. He is survived by Chris, Jesse, and Andrew Seary of Vancouver, BC; Cathy (Riley) of Abbotsford, BC; and eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Chris joined the British military at the age of 14 and proudly served his country as a paratrooper with the British Airborne in the European theatre of the Second World War. As a decorated veteran, he emigrated to Montreal, Quebec in 1957.

Chris had a passion for sports, he was an accomplished swimmer, diver, soccer player, and gymnast. He will surely be remembered by those who he shared this passion with as a knowledgeable, encouraging and award winning coach during his tenure as a physical education teacher with the Protestant School of Greater Montreal.

Chris retired to Chemainus, BC in 1984, where he married Etta on August 8, 1987. Over the years they traveled to many places in the United States, Honolulu, Cuba and many trips to various casinos.

His wicked sense of humour and zest for life will be missed by all who knew him.

A Memorial will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Chemainus, BC, on Monday June 7, 2010 at 1:00 pm.
