KNIGHT, Clarence Ashley

October 14, 1917 - November 18, 2013

Our dad Clarence, was a kind, proud man who lived a long, productive and happy life with his wife Norah by his side.

A life-long resident of Ladysmith, he raised his family here and was a well respected member of the community and loved Ladysmith. For 45 years he worked in and later ran the family business, Knight’s Hardware, located by the iconic Knight’s clock on 1st Avenue.

He was an avid photographer and loved to take pictures of the family and as he traveled around the world with Norah. He loved his garden and his house which he built himself in the 50’s on Dogwood Drive. He was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2101 for 78 years and their secretary for 57 years, and like his father before him was proudly inducted into the “Eagles Hall of Fame”. He was a devoted and loving husband and father and worked hard to give us a happy life. He was always there when we needed him and we loved him very much.

He is predeceased by his wife of 73 years, Norah in 2012. Survived by his children Shirley (Fred), Judy and Ken; grandchildren Jim (Rae-Anne), Dale (Cyndi), Scott, Cory (Anji), Ryan, Bonnie, Chris, and great-grandchildren Alexandra and Tanner.

Special thanks to everyone who helped make his life easier in his later years, especially the kind staff on the 3rd floor at the Lodge on 4th as well as Joanne, Janet and Dr. Kennedy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Eagles Hall in the New Year, the date to be announced. Instead of flowers etc., donations to the Eagles Home Society would be greatly appreciated.

Rest in Peace Dad – we will all miss you.
