Colleen AdaPassed away peacefully with her family around her on April 27, 2004. Colleen is survived by her loving husband Bill, children: Eileen (Terry) Turner, Lorraine (Jim) Addison, Vivian Wheldon, Tricia (Craig) Abbott, all of Nanaimo, BC. And her son Bob (Corrie) Baron of Gold River, BC, her sister Pat (Len) Robinson of Chemainus, BC, her niece Sandy Robinson of Victoria, BC, brothers-in-law Ted (Lenore) Baron of Campbell River, BC and Don (Jeanette) Baron of Powell River, BC, her grandchildren: Teresa, Donna, Melanie, Jim, Lindsay, Tricia, Ryan, Denise, Patrick, Laura and Nicole. Great-grandchildren: Jackleen, Deseree, Julie Anne, William, Jocelynn, Danny and Shannon, and several nieces and nephews and special friends. Colleen was born on June 29, 1927 to Jack and Lucy Murray (both predeceased) in Ladysmith, BC, where she was raised and met the love of her life Bill her husband of 57 years. Colleen was a a devoted mother to her five children and her and Bill raised them primarily in Nanaimo. Within that period, the family spent a year in Kokish, BC (1964) where Colleen ran a snack bar and taught tap dancing in the community hall. Colleen, Bill and their son Bob moved to Tahsis, BC in 1972, where Colleen made many friends, ran a shoe store and enjoyed trips around the West Coast, being especially fond of Friendly Cove. Colleen spent the latter part of her life in Ladysmith with Bill, where she enjoyed camping, boating, clamming and visits from her family and friends. Her last three years were spent in the Chemainus Health Care Centre, where she was treated with kindness and compassion by the staff of the dementia care unit. During her life, Colleen was a member of the I.O.D.E. in Nanaimo. She loved laughing, baking, music and dancing, knitting, golfing, walking and nature. A reception will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2004 at 2pm in the Eagle’s Hall, Ladysmith, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alsheimer Society of BC. would be appreciated. “Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket, Never let it fade away”.
