Died in Cowichan District Hospital, with his family at his side. Survived by his wife of 62 years Mildred, sons: Bill (Phyllis), Barry (friend Ellen), Brian (Marjon), daughters: Beryl (Mel) Stevens, Maria (Wayne) Lee and Kathy Kondas, 11 grandchildren: Dean (Laurie), Shawn, Eric, Kim (Paul), Jodie (Sean), David, Neil (Shannon), Melanie (Kevin), Sheila, (Brian), Michael (Serena), Brenda, 14 great grandchildren: Erin, Devin, Brock, Dakota, Jacob, Treyson, Kealey, Robert, Julia, Grace, Joseph, Kaytlynn, Jenna and Carson. Predeceased by grandson Clayton and daughter-in-law Belu. Cornelius was born in Hague, Saskatchewan, came to B.C. in 1941, served overseas during WWII with the Regina Riflemen, married Mildred in Stewart, B.C., February, 1942. They then moved to Ocean Falls, then to Chemainus in 1949 and to Saltair in 1951, where they resided for 53 years. A celebration of Cornelius’ life will be held on Monday, November 29, 2004 at 11:00 am in Chemainus United Church, Rev. Diane Astle officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver would be appreciated.
