David Eugene Pickard

It is with sadness we announce the peaceful and sudden passing of David Pickard.

David was born February 26, 1919 in Duncan BC, the eldest son of the valley pioneer family of Albert and Marion Pickard. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Hermina Berendina (Mimi) in 1987. Pops died surrounded by love and his eight children Marion, Barbara, David, Rozanne, Stephen, Sandy, Rodney and Michael; their loving and supportive spouses, as well as 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. David was a kind gentle husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed by so many whose lives he touched in the Valley. David retired from the Pulp Industry in 1985. He was a talented gardener, writer, language student and enjoyed immensely a daily crossword and his many trips to Europe. Dad was awarded, life time memberships to the Chemainus Legion and Chemainus Seniors Center in honour of his loyal service to both organizations.

Th e family would like to thank the staff at Chemainus and Duncan hospitals for the superior care and comfort given to our father and us at this time. We are all so proud that dad lived independently until his last few days and would love to thank everyone for their heartfelt expressions of love toward Dad and the generous acts of kindness off ered to the family at this time.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Chemainus Senior Drop In Centre, 9824 Willow Street, Chemainus BC on Nov 1, 2009 from 1 – 3 pm.
