DALY, Desmond Francis

Des was the sixth eldest son in a family of ten children. He was born on December 30th, 1924 to Thomas and Nellie Daly in a quaint little Irish settlement of Farrellton, Quebec. At the age of 17, Des served in the army during WWII in Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment.

He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Knights of Columbus. He made his living as a carpenter and spent many hours sharing this gift with family and friends.

On November 26th, 2008 after a long and courageous battle he died at Nanaimo General Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Marion of 57 years; 6 children: Sherriden Clements (Daniel), Shannon (Sharron), Patty McCann (Randy), Perry (Trena), Kelly Weeks (Grant) and Lindsey Nugent (Barry); his brother, Patrick (Myrna) and sister, Mary Vaillancourt. In retirement Des discovered his joy in life through his 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 1st, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Fr. Frank J. Franz will be the celebrant at this Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Fund would be appreciated.

Waiting on the shores of eternity you will find your grandson and fishing buddy, Chris.
