It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Des in Nanaimo, with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his wife Anne, daughters Carolyn, Eve (Marcus), Jill (Mike) and son Kevin. Grandchildren Shena, Kyle and Tyler.
Preceded by his mother, father and stepfather and his brother Mike. Survived by his sister Treacy (Channel Islands), stepbrothers Brendan (Australia) and Jackie (Ireland) and many nieces and nephews.
A man of many interests and talents. Amongst them, a 36ft sail boat which he built in our back yard in Dunbar. His passions were music, sailing, soccer, travelling and Ireland. His never ending desire for learning was constant. Des had a long successful career in Life and General Insurance with many clients who became life long friends. He and his dear friend Mr. Challmie opened up an insurance business in Vancouver and it was a great partnership. He leaves behind many friends in Ireland and across this globe.
A celebration of Des' life will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, March 17th at St. Johns Anglican Church, Buller Street, Ladysmith. Reception to follow. The Rev. Daniel Fornier will officiate. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favourite charity.
