In loving memory ~
Donalda cast off for her final cruise after 90 rich years filled with love and adventure.
Born in Rapid City, Manitoba, Donalda attended the University of Manitoba and ROTP. Following graduation, she moved to Ladysmith to marry her soul mate, Martin, and pursue a career in education. Her work as a teacher, counsellor, and eventually a trailblazing female high school administrator was marked by dedication and ambition. She also had a creative side, sewing and crafting beautiful projects in her spare time.
Donnie and Martin retired early to a life of world travelling, sailing, and golf, often returning home just long enough to catch up with family and friends before jetting off on their next adventure.
After Martin's death in 2006, Donalda became a dog mom to her adored Ben. With friends, she stayed active golfing, dragon boating, travelling and attending numerous arts performances. Later in life she enjoyed the simple pleasures of books, good company, and long walks by the water, visiting with every dog that crossed her path.
Predeceased by her beloved Martin, Donalda is survived by daughters Lillah (Tony) and Linda (Norm) and grandchildren Jenna and Kyle (Daniella). She will be remembered as an inspiring educator, intrepid traveller, and voracious reader.
In keeping with Donalda's wishes there will be a simple family celebration at a later date. If you would like to honour Donalda's memory, please consider donating a favourite book to your nearest little free library.
