WICKHAM – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Thomas Wickham January 09,1929 – February 14, 2009. Thomas Wickham was born in Vancouver, BC. And spent his early years in Swift Current, Saskatchewan and then Victoria, BC. First becoming a pharmacist, but quickly realizing he could help people even more, he graduated from medical school at UBC class of 59. Tom came to Ladysmith in 1960, where he joined and built the existing Hillside Medical Clinic, and where he practiced for 36 years. He was past president of the Rotary Club, (involved in the Shelterbox program), also a member of the Kinsmen, the Power Squadron, Probus and Eagles. He proudly accepted Citizen of the year with Wilma, as well as volunteer of the year 2008. Tom had a great love of fishing and skiing, but loved the fact that he could always learn more, which led him and Wilma to travel the world after his retirement in 1996. He is survived by his loving family: wife Wilma of 54 years, and children Tom (Shirley), David (Laura), Karen (Noel), grandchildren: Ryan, Dylan, Sean, Curtis, Ian, Kyle and Scott.
