Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, Betty was predeceased by her husband Lewis Buchanan, mother Isabel, and father Floyd Cearley. Survived by son Greg (Sheila), grandchildren Jennifer and David, daughter Luanne (Ken) Arant, sister Margaret (Harry) Trotter, and many nephews and nieces. Betty was born and raised in Courtenay area where she met and married Lewis Buchanan in 1949. They moved to Ladysmith in 1969 where Lewis died in 1989 after 40 years of marriage. Betty was in the women's army core during WWII and was stationed in Alaska. She was a member of the Ladysmith Legion. Betty loved knitting and needle point, making many sweaters as gifts over the years. She loved her family dearly and will be sorely missed. Betty loved her pets and she had many over the years. She seldom complained, even during her lengthy battle with cancer and she always kept a positive and cheerful outlook until the end. Many thanks to all the home support workers who helped Betty over the years and thank you to Dr. Lisinski for his care. There will be a graveside service at Cedar Valley Cemetery on Saturday, May 9th at 2 PM. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life at 1866 Bostrom Road in Cedar.
