Elsie Fransen

February 25, 1931 – February 23, 2021
Mom was born February 25th, 1931 in Alt-Alexandrowka, Ukraine. Sadly she passed away at Nanaimo General Hospital on February 23rd, 2021. Mom was 2 days shy of her 90th birthday. One of Mom’s greatest personal joys was becoming a Canadian citizen in 1975. She was proud of her home and loved being a resident of Ladysmith for 66 years.
Mom is lovingly remembered and forever cherished by her Children: Wayne (Carla), Carrol (Brent), Arthur (Cheryl), Brenda (Bernie) and Judy (Ted), Grandchildren: Karrie Ann, Teresa, Sarah, Kathryn, Candice and Crystal along with their partners and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
To know Mom was to love her which is a true testament to who she was. She was always welcoming and loved to have people visit, was generous and spoiled everyone with her wonderful baked goods, by always having time to truly listen, offer words of wisdom and support, but was never judgemental. Her mantra was “It is what it is”! One of her favourite songs was “You are my Sunshine” and she had a way of making everyone of us feel special, as we were all her favourite!
Conforming to Covid protocols a graveside service will be held at Ladysmith Cemetery on Wednesday, March 3rd at 11 am. Pastor Joe Bott of Bethel Pentecostal Tabernacle will officiate. Our father, Chester who passed on December 15th, 2004 will be interred with Mom. Together again, forever and ever.
The Fransen family would like to extend a special thank you to the Ladysmith Ambulance Attendants, the 1st Floor Cardiac Staff, and the Nanaimo Palliative Care Unit for the loving care Mom received. We were blessed to have Mom moved to Palliative Care as it permitted us to spend the last week with her. We always told her we loved her and her response would be…..love you more!
Mom, We love you more and until we meet again…..
In lieu of flowers we would request donations be made in Mom’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Obituary
