Eric JURELL

August 11, 2004

Eric of Ladysmith, B.C., passed away after a brief illness.

He was born in Sweden in 1926. Eric trained in forestry and in business, then immigrated to Canada in 1950. Eric worked most of his life in forestry and commercial fishing, trolling salmon in the summer and prawning in the winter and spring. he was a member of the U.F.A.W.U. and was a leading proponent for a commercial cray fishery, spending years researching and test-fishing lakes. In his later years, he manufactured specialized fising gear, both sports and commercial as well as fish farm equipment. Eric was also an avid hunter and sports fisherman.

He leaves to mourn nieces and nephews in Sweden and many friends in Canada. The Swedish club of Victoria will remember him fondly for introducing the “Crayfish Party” to their program and for supplying them with crayfish. A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Fund would be appreciated.
