Eric Sampson TIPPETT

Flight Lieutenant (Ret’d), in his 81st year. Eric was born in Vancouver, B.C. on

December 28, 1925. He grew up in Nanaimo, moving to Victoria in his mid-teens. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1944, and trained as a Flight Engineer. One year after the end of World War 2, he re-joined the RCAF and thereafter spent over 30 years in the service of his country. RCAF postings included: Edmonton; Ottawa; Tofino; Halifax; Metz, France; Montreal; Brunssum, The Netherlands; and Calgary. Eric retired from the RCAF in 1976 and then moved back to his favourite province, British Columbia. Once there, he attended college for a year, making the Dean’s list, and then had a ten-year career in the Provincial civil service, retiring in 1988. He died in North Delta, BC, with his loving daughter and son at his side, on January 21, 2006. Eric will be dearly missed by his wife of 54 years, Jean, and his children, Mike (Sandra) and Lynn (Jamie).

Remembered with great love by his five grandchildren: Jennifer, Sean, Julia, Cameron and Emma, and also by his many relatives and close friends on Vancouver Island and across Canada. Per Ardua ad Astra.
