Evelyn Jane SCHOLEFIELD (nee Sheldon)

of Saltair, B.C. passed away suddenly at her daughter’s home January 8, 2002.

Born September 12, 1922 in Halifax, N.S. Predeceased by her parents Alfred & Bessie Sheldon, sister Anna Clark and brother Edwin (all formerly of Duncan). Survived by her loving husband of 51 years Bob (Robert) and her 5 sons and 4 daughters, Herb Andrist (companion Norma) of Cobble Hill, Linda Donohue (husband Alan) of Victoria, Patrick (wife Jean) of Lake Cowichan, Roberta Greer (husband Fred) of Saltair, Sheila Charette (husband Denis) of Saltair, Lewis (wife Shelley) of Duncan, Frederick of Crofton, Barb Scholefield (companion Scott) of Duncan, Gerald (wife Stacey) of Victoria, as well as 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brother John (Jack) Sheldon (wife Loretta) of Merrit, many nieces and nephews. You may remember Evelyn as the original carrier of the Pictorial in Duncan, many other paper routes, homecare and housekeeping in the early 70’s. She also worked in the kitchen at Brentwood College and Kuper Island School. She also drove taxi and worked at Sunbright Cleaners in Chemainus. She loved to win at cribbage and watch a good hockey game (and to her they were all good). She will be remembered for her sharp mind, her generosity and her no nonsense way.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Diabetics Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. No service by request. A celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held on January 20, 2002 at Duncan Legion Hall from 12:00 – 4:00 pm.
