December 21, 1935 - January 13, 2022
On January 13th, 2022 Femia Klasina (Doedel) Vreeling passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Femia was a caring wife, mother, Oma, sister and friend. She leaves behind her children, Carl and Mary (Mike) and her grandchildren Taylor, Spencer and Ella.
She was preceded in death by her husband and best friend, John and her siblings Herman, Catharien, Jan, Barbara, and Piet.
Femia was born on December 21, 1935 in Spanga, Friesland in the Netherlands to Petrus and Marie (Fleer) Doedel. She was educated in the Netherlands as a nurse and travelled to Canada in 1955 to commence her nursing career.
While in Canada Femia reconnected with her childhood sweetheart John, whom she married on November 26, 1960. In 1966 Femia and John relocated with their two children to Ladysmith, B.C. where Femia continued her career in nursing ultimately becoming the Head Nurse at Ladysmith General Hospital.
Femia's two greatest loves in life were her family and nursing. She also enjoyed her travels with John in the motorhome across North America, long walks, gardening, sewing and crafting. She was a dedicated Catholic and a long time parishioner at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ladysmith.
Femia touched many lives with her gentle, caring nature and her selflessness.
She will be forever cherished and remembered by her children, Carl and Mary (Mike) and grandchildren Taylor, Spencer and Ella. Femia will be missed by her sister Thecla and brother Sebius (Adrienne), as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
On January 21 2022, Femia was laid to rest beside her love, John.
The family welcomes financial donations to the Ladysmith Healthcare Auxiliary as an expression of sympathy.
