FLORA ISABELLA (NEE BRADFORD) POLLOCK

January 13, 2008

POLLOCK, FLORA ISABELLA

(nee Bradford)

Passed away gently, at 76 years of age, on January 13, 2008. Flora was born February 13, 1931 in Lacombe, AB. She moved to Calgary where she met her soul mate Bud Pollock and married June 6, 1953. Their daughter Dolores was born in 1954 and their son Rob in 1955. Always an Alberta girl at heart but with an adventurous spirit (her and her classmate were known to borrow horses from the stockyard in the dark of night for a gallop), she began her travels with Bud in 1954. Over the next 35 years they lived in England, France, Alberta, BC, and the Yukon, finally settling in Chemainus in 1988. Besides her beloved family and friends, her greatest enjoyment was meeting new people and seeing new places. They enjoyed their trips to New Zealand, berry picking, and fishing in the Yukon, the Maritimes, and exploring many new areas. She packed their lives into their holiday trailer so home was wherever they were. She was the most loving, kind, wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, auntie, and friend, making each one of us feel special and loved. She never forgot birthdays or special occasions throughout her large extended family and the many friends she collected throughout their travels. She could always laugh at herself and each of us will remember having a good laugh with her. Always an active volunteer, she was a member of the Chemainus Senior Centre, Red Hats, Hospital Auxiliary, United Church, and made hats for many theatre groups. We will all miss seeing her toodling around in her red PT Cruiser in her latest hat. She is survived by her loving husband Bud Pollock, daughter Dolores (Dick); son Rob (Joanne); grandchildren Chad (Kristina), Caleb, Daniel, and Dana; sister and best friend Joeanna (Ted); and many loving family members and friends. Celebration of life was held at Chemainus United Church, 9814 Willow Street, Chemainus, BC on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon following at Chemainus Senior Centre, 9824 Willow Street. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Flora may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, 320 - 1600 West 6th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V6J 1R3.
