ATWOOD, Frances Victoria

May 24, 1925 - June 3, 2009
It is with great sadness that Fran's family announces her passing on June 3rd, 2009. Fran was a kind, selfless, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who always had a smile. She leaves to morn, her husband Bob, to whom she was married for 64 years. Her children: Alan (June), Susan, Lynne (Bill Banfield), Ken (Terry), Colleen (Steve Large) and Dave (Debbie). Her grandchildren and "great-grandchildren": Craig (Samantha), Sarah, Brayden and Maddy Atwood; Dan (Anne), Jake and Taylor Atwood; Steve, Jeff and Nathan; Wendy (Josh), Serena, Dagan and Lucas DaWaal; Russ (Helen) Banfield and Neil Banfield; Margaret "Riley" Jobbagy; Robyn (Dave), Molina; Stepson Rick (Tricia), Devin and Ocea Fawkes; Gregory Large; Kevin and Ahsley Atwood. Fran's brothers Jack (Pat) Wood of Vancouver and Dave Wood of Burnaby and nieces and nephews. Also her special four-legged friend "Tipper".
Fran was born in Ladysmith on May 24th, 1925 to Scottish immigrants John Hogg Wood and Fanny Moffat Spence. When her children were grown, she completed a practical nursing course and worked at Ladysmith General Hospital. She then entered BCIT and graduated as a R.N. returning to work at Ladysmith General until she retired. Fran and Bob moved to Port Alberni in 1991.
