Passed away peacefully in the Nanaimo Regional Hospital with family present. Servived by Olive, his sweetheart and wife of sixty years. His beloved children; Patti Miller (Ted), John Murphy (Pat Spring), Terry Murphy, his adored grandchildren; Preston Miller Paula and Allison Miller, Kell Murphy and Nicole Murphy, and siblings: Elizabeth, Claire, Isobel, Marie, Patricia and Dennis all of Toronto. Predeceased by 5 other siblings including John who lived in Nanaimo for his last 12 years. Frank settled in nanaimo with Olive after serving in the RCAF in W.W. II. His long list of contributions to his community includes: 5 years on the Nanaimo School District, Treasurer of the Carpenters Union, President of the Nanaimo District Teachers Association, President of the Nanaimo Senior Citizens Building Society, Director for Area D Nanaimo Regional District, President of the British Columbia New Democratic Party and a life long supporter of the Mid-island Cooperative and the Nanaimo Credit Union. In recent years Frank spent much of his time on his farm on Brannen Lake with his comrades as a member of the 808 Wing of the RCAF and with his loving family. The family respects Frank’s wishes that a memorial service be held at the Branch 257 Royal Canadian Legion in Lantzville. The service will be on Sunday, May 30th at 1:00 pm at the Lantzville Legion. A private interment for family will be held at the Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, May 21. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make donations may do so to the Air Cadets, 205 Collishaw Squadron, Nanaimo or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements confidently assigned to Telford’s Mid-Island Memorial Services.
