WILSON, Fred

It is with deep sadness and love that we announce the passing of Fred Wilson on September 23, 2008. He left us peacefully at his home.

He is survived by his stepdaughter Elaine (Gary) Johnson and relatives in England. He had a very close friend in Irene Christie who will miss him dearly.

Fred was born in Ladysmith on December 9, 1922 and lived here all his life. He was predeceased by his first wife Mina, in June 1971, as well as his second wife Agnes, in Feb 2000.

Fred was at the McMillan & Bloedel sawmill in Chemainus all his working life. After retirement he and Agnes enjoyed travelling to many parts of the world. He was a volunteer fireman for 25 years and a long standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion #171 as well as the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2101.

At his request, there will be no funeral service. Flowers are gratefully declined. Instead, if friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to a charity of their choice. A gathering of friends to celebrate Fred’s life is being planned. Cremation arrangements entrusted to First Memorial Funeral Services.

We greatly appreciate all the companionship and care his friends gave Fred over the years, especially Shannon Starrie and Madeline Kennedy.

He is greatly missed and will be fondly remembered.
