Passed away suddenly in his garden while enjoying feeding his birds. Survived by his loving wife Anne of 61 years, sons: Chuck (Linda), Gordon and Jimmie (Lorraine), daughters: Vicki (John) Turner Laurie (Gary) Schley, 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Walker Addison of Nanaimo. Predeceased by his parents, Walker and Nellie Addison; brothers Bill, Al, Joe and Tom and sisters, Gladys Wales and Ella Lister. George was a lifetime resident of Harewood. He worked in the Nanaimo Coal Mines until enlisting in the Army in 1941. He met his wife Anne Portman during basic training in Vernon, BC, returning to Nanaimo and marrying Anne in March 1943. George worked in the forestry industry as a faller until his retirement from MacMillan Bloedell, Northwest Bay Division, in 1985. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and lawn bowling. He also enjoyed 5-pin bowling and building houses, including his own. George enjoyed Bingo and the many friends he met there. George was a caring, loving family man. George’s life was all about his family. “Thank you Dad, we’ll miss you”. A celebration of George’s life will take place on Thursday, November 25, 2004 at 1:00 pm at Telford’s Memorial Centre, 595 Townsite Road, Nanaimo, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
