Gillian passed away her way - peacefully, with dignity and surrounded by family and love. She was born in Edmonton, AB and at an early age moved to Nanaimo, BC.
As a young bride (Schaede), she moved to Chemainus and spent many years there raising a family and beginning a lifelong home-based career of dressmaking. She carried this talent throughout her life living in Port Alberni and then Ladysmith. Wherever she lived she quickly built an extensive clientele. Her final years were spent at LaRosa Gardens where she became known for her teddy bears. Gillian is survived by children Evelyn, Lyla and Doug (Sandy), 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
