Gordon Thomas Cargill

January 10, 1941 - May 23, 2015

After a courageous battle with heart disease, Gordon Cargill passed away peacefully in his sleep with his loving wife Beverley by his side. He is also survived by his sons Warren and Wes (Keri) and grandson Thomas.

Gordon was born and raised in southern Alberta, including Foremost and Lethbridge. After marrying Bev in 1966, they raised their family in Calgary, and later in the Cochrane area, where Gordon once again enjoyed getting back to his farming roots.

Gordon was a man who knew a lot about everything, which he put to good use after he and Bev retired to Ladysmith, establishing a local handy man business “Gordie-On-The-Go”. Gordon also generously volunteered his time with the Ladysmith Festival of Lights, Citizens On Patrol, and at the Bush Creek Hatchery. You were also just as likely to see Gordon having a coffee break on the main street, talking to anybody who’d listen and waving at passers-by.

Gordon was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Georgina Cargill, as well as his Father and Mother-In-Law, Earle and Rose Aitken.

The family would like to invite Gordon’s friends to Eagles Hall on Friday, May 29 from 2-5pm for a celebration of his life.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Gordon’s name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
