Hamish Lovat SYMON

(MBChB, DRCOG) passed away peacefully on January 12, 2002 at Cowichan District Hospital after courageously bearing a lengthy illness. Dear husband of Elizabeth: father of Margaret (Ian) of Shawnigan Lake and John (Patty) of Montreal. Grandfather of Gavin, Arran, David, Alasdair, Clayton, Gordon and Anna.


Born in Inverness, Scotland on September 7, 1923. He served with the R.A.F. in WWII. He completed his medical studies at Edinburgh. A physician with the Canadian Army from 1962 to 1965. He served in N.B., Y.T., and Alberta. A medical practioner in Nanaimo until 1982, he later worked with the W.C.B. in Richmond, B.C. Hamish was a keen golfer and musician. Special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at C.D.H. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of choice. A memorial service on Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at 1400 hrs (2:00 p.m.) at the Mill Bay United Church. Arrangements entrusted to Telford’s Mortuary.
