Born on July 28, 1921.
As the sun came over the yardarm, dad left us April 3, 2002 with his beloved wife and daughters by his side. Harry’s life is celebrated by his wife of 54 years, Emily (nee Baldock), his six children: Rob (Barb), Kerry (Carol), Joanne (Jim), Patrick (Debbie), Tony (Nirm) and Tammi (Penny). Fourteen grandchildren: Jan, Jolie, Clinton, Greg, Kevin, MIchael, James, Alicia, Bradley, Jennifer, Thomas, Natasha, Danielle, Matthew. Four great-grandchildren: Jessica, Kelti, Nichole and Dayton. Dad was born in Assiniboia, Sask., and joined the Navy at 18 to fight in WWII. He met and married Emily May in Bamberton, B.C. in 1948, moving to Youbou in 1959 to work in the sawmill as the head first aid/time keeper. He taught first aid classes and was on call to attend the sick and injured both in Bamberton and Youbou. Harry and Em retired to Ladysmith in 1986. Dad’s greatest joy was his family. A memorial tea was held on Sunday, April 7, 2002 from 1:00 - 3:30 p.m. in the Ladysmith Legion Branch 171 Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ladysmith Hospital Auxiliary would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Telford’s Mortuary.
