Hazel Jessie ANDERSON

On July 14, 2005 at 11:55 p.m. Hazel Jessie Anderson of Ladysmith, went into the arms of her family after many years of living with devastating effects if smoking (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease or COPD).

Born at home on the family farm near Grandview, Manitoba, March 22, 1913, she ws the third youngest of 10. Mom was a hard working woman who took whatever jobs she had to do to support her 3 children. She lived and worked in Red Deer at Mitchner Centre in the early 70’s. Mom also spent a couple of years caring for her ailing sister, Elsie and husband Charlie in Virden, Manitoba. She retired to Portage la Prairie, Manitoba to be near her sister and lived there until 1992 when she moved to British Columbia to be closer to her daughters.

Predeceased by her parents, Steven and Grace, husband George, sisters, Mabel, Elsie, Jean and brothers Ross, Stuart, William and Leslie. The memories of her life and who she was reside in those she left behind, daughter Lynne (Lynne) of Ladysmith, daughter Sue, (Deb) of Victoria, son Robert (Gail) of Red Deer, Alberta, grandchildren, Nadine (Wayne) of Calgary, David and Brian of Devon, great-grandchildren, Jayde, Bryce and Joshua, her sisters, Grace (Portage la Prairie) and Edith (Red Deer) and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. As she was a prairie flower, born and bred, her ashes will be returned to Virden, Manitoba and interred at the foot of her sister Elsie’s grave.

In her lifetime Hazel touched the lives of many people. A “Party Hearty” to celebrate that life for her Vancouver Island friends will be held at the home of the Lynne’s on August 7, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date in Alberta.
