With sadness the family announces the passing of their mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Hilda Brown, on Sunday, May 26th 2024 at the Cowichan Hospice House in Duncan B.C.
She is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Erma McGowan, husband Douglas Brown (2009), two great grandchildren Jaedyn (2012) and Parker (2023) and special friend Roy Hardy (2023). She will be missed dearly by her daughters, Kathy Brown, Kim (John) Graczyk, sister Shirley (Cal) and brothers Jack, and Charles (Kerry), grandchildren Tara (Paul), Meagan (Scott), and Steve (Alex), great grandchildren Mercedez, Ayson, Nash, and Liam and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Hilda was born in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba on April 5th, 1936 and spent her early years helping on her family farm. She moved to Ladysmith in the early 60's with her two young daughters, and there she met and married Doug Brown. Her career consisted of numerous occupations, such as the Ladysmith Credit Union and a long-term care aid at Four All Seasons and Traveller's Lodge, and was a member of numerous local auxiliaries, charities, and organizations.
Hilda's life centered around her family, home, friends and hobbies. She enjoyed sewing, camping, and golfing, having been a long-time member of The Mount Brenton Golf Club, and really enjoyed a cozy campfire and weenie roast with loved ones. Her good sense of humour and sharp wit always made for good stories, and she was always so grateful spending quality time with her daughters.
