He met mom (Helen) in Maple Ridge, they married soon after in Regina, moving back to the coast in the early 50’s. They settled in Saltair, where he built the family home. Dad worked in the forest industry while raising his family. When the Chemainus Sawmill closed he had many different jobs in the Ladysmith area. He built a small mill on the property and enjoyed cutting lumber. Dad had a Bobcat business for a while and did landscaping and small jobs locally. He and mom enjoyed traveling throughout Canada and the States, with a group of close friends. Dad could fix and build anything and loved to tinker outside, always working on something. He sold his home of over 60 years and moved into La Rosa Gardens. There he met new friends, reconnected with old ones, and enjoyed time with his companion Barbara, until moving to NSV in January 2021. Dad was a gentle, caring, and kind man who was always there to give a helping hand. A great husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. We will miss his humour, wit, wisdom and loving way. We are thankful for the years we had with dad and cherish them all. We will Love and miss him always.
