Jim was born in Prestonpans, Scotland, January 21, 1932. He immigrated to Canada in 1956 and became a Canadian citizen in 1986. Jim passed on, peacefully, into the presence of our Lord on the 30th day of August, 2006 after a valiant battle with cancer. The disease took Jim’s body but not his soul. His invincible spirit will live on through his family; devoted wife Mary/Betty, loving and proud children, daughters Elizabeth (Terry) and Brenda, sons Ian (Melanie) and Robert (Stephanie), and adoring grandchildren Timothy, Andrew, Janelle and Kendra. Further survived by siblings Billy in England, Sadie in Scotland, Nessie (Maxie) Langley, BC, Sandy (Jean) in England, Margaret (Peter), Isha in Vegreville, Alberta, many nieces and nephews and a multitude of loyal, caring extended family, friends and neighbours, and last but not least Hunter, his faithful canine companion.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, September 30th, 2006 in the First United Church, 232 High St., Ladysmith at 1pm; reception to follow at the Church Hall.
In lieu of flowers the Steele family respectfully request donations be made to the “Canadian Cancer Society” or the “N.R.G.H. Palliative Care Unit”.
