Joan Nairn Mrus (nee Witmer) was born in Kindersley, Saskatchewan on August 30, 1930. Joan passed away unexpectedly, as she wanted, in her sleep on September 24, 2022.
Joan leaves behind her children, Doug Copp (Arlene), Ken Mrus (Maureen), Teresa Mrus, Shirley Mrus, David Mrus (Heather) and Peter Mrus (Peggy). She also leaves behind her step- brother Merton Witmer and step-sister Delores Ames (nee Witmer), nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her daughter Jacalyn Hopkins (nee Copp).
Joan enjoyed being in her garden tending her flowers and watching the many varieties of birds that gathered at her feeder. She loved all animals but especially dogs. She was an avid reader, engaging conversationalist and particularly enjoyed a good meal with family and friends.
Over the years Joan travelled by train across Canada, cruised to Alaska, flew to Hawaii, but her best memories were of a trip she made exploring Africa with her sister Iris.
Joan's door was always open to family, friends and neighbours for a cup of tea and a helping hand.
Joan's family was her greatest joy. She was an amazing mother who raised seven children and had a hand in raising her many grandchildren.
At Joan's request there will be no flowers, no service or memorial. Anyone who knew her will keep her in a special place in their heart.
