BOUMA,

Johannes (Joe),

October 22, 2003.

After a courageous battle with cancer, Joe passed away at home in Ladysmith, BC surrounded by his loving family. Born in Dronryp Friesland Holland, to a family of six girls and four boys. Predeceased by his parents and one sister. Joe came to Canada in 1956. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Suzanne of 44 years, four sons: Frank (Carolyn), Ken (Sue), Paul (Janice), Neil (Kathy), 10 grandchildren: Ryan, Amber, Serena, Jake, Luke, Sydney, Annika, Haven, Alexis and Carter, also a large number of relatives and friends.

Joe was very close to his father and mother-in-law Ray and Yvonne Wiart and brothers and sisters-in-law. Joe’s pride and joy was the "Villa" apartments and the wonderful tenants that lived there over the past thirty years. Joe was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Ladysmith Rotary Club and the Probus Club. He loved his family, boating, fishing, motor-homing, golfing and holidaying with his friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. F. Kennedy, the home-care nurses and Melinda Bryan and all who came to visit while he was sick.

A Mass of the Resurrection was held on Saturday, October 25, 2003 at 1:00 pm in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1135 Fourth Avenue, Ladysmith, BC. Fr. J. Kobos celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the BC Heart Fund. Arrangements confidently assigned to Telford’s Mid-Island Memorial Services.
