John Andrew (Jack) BORROWMAN,

November 22, 2005

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, November 22, 2005. Born February 20, 1909, Jack grew up and attended schools in Victoria, BC. At the age of 14 his first job was delivering papers for the Victoria Times Colonist. At age 17 he entered the employ of CP Rail as a fireman and eventually became the engineer of the E & N and Dayliner for over 30 years. Jack met and married Beatrice Mona Radford of Ladysmith in 1935. He settled his young family in a home on Long Lake in Wellington where he lived happily for more than 50 years. Predeceased by parents, Andrew Richard and Sarah Jane (Adair), two sisters, Betz (Ard) and Anne (Bourne), infant twin daughters and wife Mona in 1994. Jack is survived by sons Lawrence (Mary) and their four children, Richard (Pat), and their two children and daughter Tamah and her two sons as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who love their “Dad” and “Papa”. Jack will also be sadly missed by special friend Cleta Horth. Throughout his life Jack enjoyed travel, golf, dance, especially at the Bowen Seniors Centre in later years, and sing-a-longs fondly remembered by family and friends at backyard barbecues and around the piano in the house. Memorial Service was held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, November 27 at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1 Newcastle Avenue, Nanaimo, BC.
