John (Jack) Charles GALLAGHER

born May 21, 1926, died October 20, 2005.

A long time resident of

Ladysmith. Jack was predeceased by his first wife, Doris (nee Brooks), his parents, James and Annie Gallagher, and his brothers George and Stanley. He is survived by his wife C. Lyle, his four daughters: Lorraine (Rob) Viala, Randy (Ed) Graczyk, Dawn (Bill) Noye, Kathy (Bob) Gallagher, his four step-children: Rick Pollack, Jim Pollack, Terry (Wendy) Pollack, Leza (Pete) Matson, fifteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, his two sisters, Verna Wargo and Lillian Gallagher, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jack was a World War II veteran, serving in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1944-45. He was a longshoreman, working “on the beach” from June 15, 1950, until he retired in November 1987. Jack was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and bowling.

Special thanks to Dr. C. Fritsch and all the wonderful and sympathetic caregivers at Ladysmith and District Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.

A Memorial Tea was held Sunday, October 23, 2005 at the Ladysmith Legion.
