Our beloved Father, John passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2018 in Nanaimo BC.

John was born in South Wellington in his family home, shortly after, John's family moved to Lake Cowichan prior to settling in Ladysmith where he grew up, married and had a family. John lived his entire life on Vancouver Island and in his later years he resided in Yellow Point and Nanaimo.

He is predeceased by his Mother and Father, Marjanna and Kajetan (John); Step-Mother Mabel; brothers Stanislaw (Stan) and Alexander (Alec), sister-in-law Noreen (Stan's wife) and brother-in-law Armand Trottier (Mary's husband). 

John will be sadly missed by his daughters; Tamara (Clarence), Tanya (Darren), Trisha (Darren); grandchildren Marcello, Alexandra and SaBryn; Step-grandchildren Ashley and Dylan; his brother Frank and sister Mary Trottier; many cousins, nieces, nephews and good friends near and far.

John began working at a young age in the logging industry. followed by a short time in commercial fishing, before joining the ILWU, retiring as Foreman in 1998 from the waterfront.

John endeavoured in business ventures that included Rajon Pacifico Co. Ltd and Ladysmith Hilltop Holdings Ltd.

He spoke of many good memories of his early teen years spending time with his brothers and friends growing up near the Ladysmith train tracks and Transfer Beach. In his early adulthood, he enjoyed fishing and trap shooting. He had a love for the racetrack and had part ownership of several race horses over the years; his favourites were "Monarch Gold" and "Mint Fryer." He enjoyed weekly afternoons playing Bridge at the Ladysmith Eagles and continued to play at the Nanaimo Senior's Village.

John could conversationally speak several languages. Being proud of his accomplishment, he enrolled at VIU to pursue his passion for language. This is where he met international students and helped them with their conversational English.

John enjoyed travelling to Arizona and made many trips to Mexico; later made annual adventures to Europe, in particular Poland and France to connect with family and visit his parents and brother's birthplace.

A special thank you to all the staff at Nanaimo Senior's Village and the Nurses and Physicians at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

A celebration of John's life will be held from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 10th, 2018 in the Dover Room at Nanaimo Senior's Village located 6089 Uplands Drive, Nanaimo.
