June passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025, at the Cowichan Hospital in Duncan, BC. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Marian (Mike) Zubert, she is lovingly remembered by daughters Joanne (Perry) Briault and Lee Zubert; grandchildren Rick, Nicola, and Courtney; great-grandchildren Dakoda, Aceyn, and James; and family across England, Scotland, and Poland.
Born in Dawley Bank, Shropshire, England, June moved to Canada at age 21. A chance encounter at a dance in Vancouver led to her marriage to Mike in 1958. They initially raised their family in England before returning to Canada and settling in West Vancouver in 1965. June worked at various companies then later at ICBC until her 1996 retirement.
In retirement, she and Mike lived in Ladysmith but travelled when they could until a final trip to England and Poland in 2008. A devoted TOPS and Ladysmith Senior's centre member she remained active with the groups for 25+ years. She celebrated her 90th birthday in 2024 surrounded by her friends and family.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to her friend Patsy, Hillside Medical Ladysmith, Island Pharmacy staff in Duncan, and care teams at Nanaimo and Cowichan hospitals, plus her many friends at TOPS and the Ladysmith Senior's centre. June will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, humour, and warmth.
"Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma (GG) Juney" will be deeply missed. She leaves behind a legacy of adventure; never be afraid to follow your heart and always fill your life with laughter!
In lieu of flowers and to honour June's love of animals, donations may be made to local animal rescue groups. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, June 1, from 12:30-3:30 pm at Diamond Community Hall, Ladysmith, BC.
