Karen Anne

It is with great sadness that the family of Karen Anne (Eckert) Berger announces her passing in the early morning of January 26, 2009 at Chemainus Health Care Centre after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Karen Anne was born in South Hampton, County of Bruce, Ontario, February 27, 1945. Karen moved to the Cowichan Valley 4 years

ago to be closer to her family and especially to be here for

her Grandbabies whom she loved more than anything. Karen Anne is survived by her sons Wade Berger (Sandy) and grandchildren Makayla and Ty of Duncan, BC, and Dale

behind her mother Wilma Carty of Prince George, sister Faye Hingley of Prince George, brother Bill Eckert of Dawson Creek, BC and brother Bob (Donna) Eckert of Prince

George, BC. Also her nephews Trevor Hingley of Dawson

Creek, BC, Danny Hingley of Dawson Creek, BC, Mike Hingley of Grand Prairie, AB, and her very special niece Deanna (Brian) Bildson of Grand Prairie , AB. Karen Anne was predeceased by her father Ernest Eckert of Dawson Creek, BC who passed away August 25, 2001. Karen was a very hard worker and an amazing cook. She worked for PTI in various camps in and around Northern BC and Alberta. She enjoyed cooking for her family most of all. She enjoyed reading, bon fi res, and rarely missing her grandchildren’s hockey.

A special thank you to all of mom’s friends who would check in regularly to see how she was. Thank you to mom’s special friend Samaira Grainger who was always there for her “Kar-Bear”. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 1st, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the Best Western Hotel, Duncan, BC. Jim Holland offi ciating. We would like to thank Dr. Archdekin and all the staff at the Chemainus Health Care Centre for taking such wonderful care of Mom.
