KAREN KATHLEEN CORMONS

CORMONS KAREN KATHLEENborn on June 7, 1936 in North Vancouver, BC, raised in Sechelt, BC. Passed away on March 19, 2003 in Nanaimo, BC. Karen is pedeceased by her parents Herb and Dorothy Stockwell. Karen is survived by her loving husband Al of 28 years, her girls Janet, Ingrid, and Christine Jensen, as well as her son-in-law Joel Miller. Karen is also survived by her two brothers Ray (Shannon), and Jim (Patti) Stockwell, her sister-in-law Judy (Bert) Rougeau, and Terry (Kim) Cormons, numerous neices, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Karen graduated from UBC with a degree in education, and made a valuable contribution to the central island arts community through music teaching (School District 68) and piano playing. Karen was an avid curler and had a love for the outdoors that involved her in many activities such as walking on beaches, boating, gardening, and animals especially her pets Kiska and Katie. She enjoyed her many family, friends and neighbours in her home at Cedar by the Sea where she and Al lived for the last 28 years. Karen was renowned for bringing her positive spirit and enthusiasm to everyone who met her. A celebration of Karen’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at 2:00 pm, at Saint Andrews United Church, 311 Fitzwilliam St, Nanaimo, BC. A reception will follow the srvice at the Cavallotti Hall, 2060 East Wellington Rd. In lieu of flowers a memorial trust fund for Karen will be arranged in the immediate future.
