STEEN, Kathleen "Kay" passed away on July 27, 2007 at Ladysmith Hospital. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, September 23, 1916. Kay nursed at the University Hospital in Edmonton, before she met her husband Ragnar Steen in 1941 while on summer vacation and swimming at English Bay. They moved to Ladysmith in 1941. Kay's loves were her family. Her kindness and dedication to her family and close friends is what Kay will be best remembered for. Her kitchen was always open, those who knew her liked her, and those who knew her well, loved her. One of Kay's greatest joys was nature, with the West Coast Trail being her favourite, (walking it at age 57), and many summers spent near Tofino, trips to the Queen Charlottes, and time spent with the hiking club. Kay had a long and happy life and will be greatly missed and forever loved. She is survived by her three boys, who she raised in Ladysmith, Richard, Eric and Bert, also surviving are daughters-in-law: Laurel, Margaret and Chrystal, grandchildren: Tracey (Brian), Jeff (Stephanie), Aaron (Glynis), Marty (Kara), Anders and Clayton, great-grandchildren: Darien, Marcus and Garrett, also brother Jim and sisters: Mary and Theresa.
