Laverne Frances
Passed away on August 11. 2002 at the age of 74. She was born in Ladysmith in 1928 but moved to the Lower Mainland as a child where she lived the rest of her life. She is a great grand daughter of Francis and Mary Joseph Doumont who came to the Nanaimo-Ladysmith area from Belgium in the 1880s. She is survived by her husband of 50 years Les Jorden of Maple Ridge, her daughter Diane Nipius of Coquitlam and son Terry Jorden of Edmonton. She also leaves a grand daughter Sara, daughter-in-law Kathy Jorden also of Edmonton and Gary Marsh of Burnaby. Laverne was the only daughter of Frank Dooley (born in England 1902) and Valentine Doumont (born in Ladysmith 1905). Her ashes will be laid to rest beside her mother in the Ladysmith Cemetery at 2 pm Aug. 28. Instead of flowers, please send a donation to a charity of your choice.
