Baylie, Leslie Robert August 18th, 1944 – December 7th, 2009
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Les Baylie. He was a loving husband to Eve and a wonderful father to Jayne and Steve.
He will be missed by daughter-in-law Debbie and grandchildren Danica and Connor, as well as son-in-law Perry and grandchildren Scott, Nicole and Jessica. Les will be sadly missed by many relatives and friends in both England and Canada. Working and volunteering at the Calgary SPCA, Les was well known for his compassion and love for all animals – especially dogs. This continued when he moved to Ladysmith and became Cowichan and district branch’s fi rst dog walker and trainer…”dogs made him happy.”
Calgary’s loss was Cowichan’s gain. Les was the fi rst committed dog walker at the Duncan SPCA. He came when no one else was there. He loved being with the dogs and didn’t mind getting down and dirty with the big guys who needed training. He had an amazing way with the animals. Les was well loved by all of the dog’s, staff and volunteers and will be sorely missed.
At Les’s request there will be no service In lieu of fl owers, donations may be made to the Cowichan BC SPCA.
There will be a celebration of Les’s life next summer by the immediate family at one of his many favorite places in the Rockies – the Kananaskis.
