A shining light has gone out in our family with the sudden passing of our Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, sister, sister in law, aunt and friend Linda Jean Hughes. Though we were not ready to say goodbye so soon, we know she is with her husband of 38 years, Jack Hughes who we lost and still miss terribly on Sept 9 2020.
We know now that it is possible to die of a broken heart, but it gives us peace to know that they are together again.
Linda was born in Halifax, NS to her parents Theora and Lawson Mansfield. The family moved out west and she spent the later part of her childhood in Calgary, Alta. She lived in Golden and Fernie before settling in Chemainus.
Besides Jack, Linda loved children, (her and Jack fostered over 40 children). She loved her pups who were with her just about anywhere she went. She spent hours in her garden turning it into a magical place.
You could not visit her without having her "take you for a walk in the yard" and she never arrived at your house without a handful of "posies" she had grown. She was happiest in muddy bare feet with and a garden hose in her hand. She loved her little birds.... but mostly she loved her family.
Lynne leaves to celebrate her life, her daughter, Heather ( Al) Irwin, her sister, Sheralyn (Jim) Unrua in Buick, B.C., 7 much loved, Grandchildren, Brady (Meghan) Irwin, Kelsey (Travis) Godkin, Bryce Irwin, Becca (Jay) Bernasky, (Chemainus), Dylan , Dallas, and Natasha Reizevoort (Calgary) Terry and Candace Thomas and 3 her beautiful great grandbabies, as well as her loving in-laws and friends.
Her only son, Paul Reizevoort, (2008) and her husband, Jack Hughes, predeceased Lynne.
Mom you taught us to be grateful, to stay positive, to love and accept everyone and to take care of all of creatures big and small. You were a blessing to us all and we will always carry you in our heart.
