Lola Herbena

Born Lola Herbena Shillington March 12, 1916 Courtenay, BC. Predeceased by her husband William G. Cozens, 1981 and brothers Mel Shillington (Nanaimo), Gordon Parnell (Davidson) and Wm. Parnell (New Westminster).

Survived by daughter Lynne Karran (Glenn) Squamish, son; Barrie Cozens (Ginger) Saltair, grandchildren, Laurie Knopp (Norm) Squamish, Kelly Karran (John Mitcheson) London, England, Jeffrey Karran (Miriam) Ottawa, Tarra Rosenke (Matt)Victoria; great grandchildren; Darcy Sutherland, Cody Knopp, Zachary and Jacob Mitcheson, Jack, Samuel, Jade and Mia Karran, Maci and Rylan Rosenke.

Also left to mourn Lola is her sister Betty Weigel (Saskatoon), sister-in-law Fran Parnell and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Lola grew up in Davidson, Sask, and had many a tale to tell about farm life. She graduated from Regina General School of Nursing and worked in Nanaimo General as well as Ladysmith and Chemainus. She married Bill Cozens in 1941. Lola was involved in many Chemainus, Ladysmith and Saltair activities- card parties, dances and fall fairs at Gillies Hall, rolling bandages for the Red Cross at Mt. Brenton one room school, CGIT, United Church, Girl Guides, Tourist Bureau Chemainus as well as many volunteer hours with the BC Lung Association. Camping and rockhounding were her favourite pastimes. She loved the outdoors.
