In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lorrain Kathleen Jordan on November 25, 2021 at the age of 78. Lorrain will be remembered by her children Robert (Charito), Richard, Charlotte (Garrett) and grandchildren Silas and Freya along with family and friends around the world.
Lorrain was born in Woolwich, London, England. She grew up with her Mum, Dad, Big Nan, Little Nan and her Great-Great Grandma Fletcher and had so many fond memories of living with all of her grandmas.
On May 6, 1967, Lorrain married her husband, Ian, in London, England. In 1975, they emigrated to Canada with their two sons and then had their daughter. Lorrain raised their children until school age returning to work in group homes followed by teaching at Kiti 'K' Shan Elementary School where she proved to be a strong teacher with a natural ability to value all children and invest in their personal and educational needs. She developed Spring Creek Herbs selling herbal remedies, quilted and gardened.
Upon moving to Ladysmith in 2006, Lorrain joined local clubs and developed a non-profit organization called Good Cents for Change to educate and financially support impoverished women in Zambia. She was active in the Anglican church and participated in Cursillo.
In 2015, Lorrain and Ian moved to Nanaimo where she created a beautiful garden for the family to enjoy for years to come. Lorrain took an active role in the family, helping with her grandchildren whom, being their Nana, she loved so much.
Lorrain enjoyed travelling, gardening, being spiritually connected with Jesus, and spending time with her family. Her sincere love for so many was reflected in her effort to help those less fortunate than herself, and as such will be remembered by many for being naturally accepted and loved by her. She was loved so much by her husband, a true love at first sight and there was sincere appreciation for one another throughout their marriage. She was a loving mum to her children as well as an exceptional Nana to her grandchildren. Lorrain was loved by so many people and will be fondly remembered by those who got to know her.
A celebration of life will be held in Nanaimo and Terrace in 2022, please email charlotte.haley@protonmail.com for details. Lorrain loved to give back to her community, therefore if you wish to make any memorial donations these can be made to local societies for those in need or by contributing volunteer time to the same.
