Margaret Rose (nee McBeath) JOHNSTON

December 7, 2006

Passed away Thursday, December 7th at the Cowichan District hospital. Born in New Dayton, Alberta on May 13, 1927. Predeceased by her daughter Becky and her husband Tom.  Lovingly remembered by her children Kennely (June), Dennis, Lynn, Kurt (Morag), Rhonda (Ron), grandchildren Tammy (Travis), Treena (Garry), Dean, Andrea (Toran), Tanya, Christa (Fraser), Jeff (Sacha), Matthew (Ann), Warren, Tyrell, Kelley, Ashley and great grandchildren Devan and his sisters Jade and Sarah, Loki, Rowan, and Graeden.  Mom was one of 13 children. She is survived by her sister Ina Ostrup of Cranbrook and her brother Ralph McBeath of Lethbridge Alta. Rose married Arthur Thomas Johnston on November 14, 1947, and they lived in Vancouver and Princeton before moving to Chemainus in 1956. Her passions were gardening, knitting, crocheting doilies, baking, reading and cross word puzzles.  Mom volunteered with the Chemainus Lady’s Legion Auxiliary for many years. Mom always had a smile and an open heart and dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. There was always a jigsaw puzzle on the table to challenge us while we had tea. She didn’t like anyone to leave empty handed so quite often that meant one of her delicious apple pies went home with you. A tea will be held to celebrate mom’s life and her love of life itself, on Sunday December 17th at 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the First Memorial Heritage Hall, 375 Brae Road, Duncan. Thank you to Dr. Archdekin, Dr. Ramakrishnan and the Cowichan District hospital staff for the care they gave to our Mom.
