Helen was born in Weyburn, Sask. May 12, 1919 and moved with family to Lloydminster where she met Eric after completeing Teachers College in Saskatoon. They were married in 1943 and moved to the farm south of Lloydminster where they raised their family. Helen and Eric spent winters in Desert Hot Springs where they made many great friends. When they could no longer travel, Helen enjoyed volunteering at the Ladysmith Health Care Thrift Shop and supporting the Ladysmith Seniors Centre as well as enjoying crib and other activities. She was a loving and generous "Nana", a lifelong reader, learner, teacher, and puzzler, with a keen interest in politics. Getting together with a group of friends and family for cards and games was a favourite activity.
Helen was known for her determination, faith, kindness, laughter, lovely smile and her Tilley hat! We will miss you Mom!
The family would like to thank Dr. Lisinski for his good care in getting Mom past her 100th birthday and Dr. Kutney for getting her over the finish line with caring and compassion. They also offer heartfelt thanks to the Home Care team for their splendid care of Helen at home and for guiding the family through this stage of her life. Special thanks to Reverend Deb Hinksman and dear friend, Marg for their pastoral care and friendship.
The family has been fortunate in celebrating Mom's life with family and friends from near and far on her milestone birthdays and relaying messages of love to her over the last few weeks. A private family graveside service will be held.
