It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife and mother, Pat Tanner at the age of 71 years. We are proud of the way she fought her disease with grace and dignity and optimism. Pat was a beautiful and strong woman whose loss leaves a huge hole in our lives. She was a true fighter and always looked at the bright side of life.
Pat was born in Calgary to Peter and Laura Lund, she was the youngest of three. The family lived in BC for a while and then moved back to Calgary where she later met and married the love of her life, Graham, in 1968.
Pat enjoyed a rewarding career in Calgary working for the ERCB and relished the many family camping trips, the memorable vacations to Mexico and Hawaii and the numerous fun road trips to Coeur D'Alene, Spokane and Bellingham with her husband.
Pat and Graham moved to Ladysmith in September 1995. For the next 24 years she built a new life with her husband, spent time with old friends, made many new friends, and developed an especially important bond with their neighbours, Karen and Gary. She liked challenging crossword puzzles, watching tennis, cheering on her favourite Nascar drivers, and didn't mind happy hour on the patio with a cold beer or glass of wine. Mostly though, she enjoyed what she called the "rural and rustic life" with Graham in Ladysmith.
She showed us incredible determination and true resilience in the last few years and really was an inspiration. She touched so many people with her beautiful smile and was always ready with a witty remark. She never forgot birthdays or anniversaries, always remembering to put a handful of confetti in the cards.
Pat was predeceased by her parents, brother Bruce, sister Maureen, and parents in law George and Norah. She is survived by husband Graham, daughter RenОe, son in law Oscar, and her pride and joy in life, grandson Gabriel. Pat also leaves to mourn brother in law Alan (Sakena), sister in law Maureen (Dan), nieces Nicole (Duncan, Beck and Coen), Michelle (Ashley, Olivia, Madison), Dawn (Michael and Steven), Teresa (Leah), and many wonderful, beloved friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Fergus Kennedy and the staff of Hillside Medical for their care and attention over the last few years.
Flowers are gratefully declined however, those so wishing may make a donation in Pat's name to the BCSPCA.
